We were briefed the opportunity to create an interactive experience using the brief title 'Information Exploration'. With this being our only guidance I went out in search of research originally for an idea which involved bridging the gap between print and digital but I ended up coming back from the library with a different direction. The library system annoys me – I'll tell you why.
We are an Arts University and so are more or less all visual people. Most library systems use the Dewey Decimal system which is a great and very precise tool but it is not visual. We are provided with a 6-7 digit decimal just to find our book.
With that being said, I thought for my project I would create a new library system. Let users know what book they want before they even enter the library and so when they do they can simply use the new library app to locate their book using an augmented reality and GPS function.
